Bridge Taxi Finance has launched its first ever photo competition for grade 11 and 12 learners, in which the winner could walk away with R1 000 for him or herself, and R10 000 for their school’s matric farewell party.
Launched in April 2023, the competition requires learners to take the most exciting, fun and creative pictures in and around a Chinese-manufactured minibus taxi, post it to the Bridge Taxi Finance Facebook page, and stand a chance to win the big prize.
Bridge Taxi Finance will give one winner in each province a prize of R1 000, while contributing R10 000 to the winner’s school matric dance.
Bridge Taxi Finance partners with minibus taxi owners to start and grow their own businesses and play an active role in the South African economy.
“A matric farewell is a special moment, as learners prepare for the next chapter in their lives. Our role as a responsible corporate citizen is to assist the younger generation through education projects. This competition celebrates the hard work of learners who have put in at least 12 long, hard years of studying to obtain a matric certificate,” says Vincent Raseroka, Non-Executive Chairman at Bridge Taxi Finance.
The competition will run from 17 April 2023 to 24 May 2023. One winner from each province will be selected, with three runners-up in each province. The runners-up will each receive R1 000 towards their matric farewell. Judging will take place at the end of May, and the winners will be announced in early June, in time to prepare for their matric farewell.
Bridge Taxi Finance is committed to the renewal of South Africa’s ageing minibus taxi fleet by exclusively financing high-quality Chinese-manufactured minibus taxis. The taxi industry in South Africa is the biggest informal transport system in the world and is responsible for delivering 70% of the country’s workforce – including learners of every level – to their destinations every day.
“We want to give learners a chance to express themselves in a fun, exciting manner in the most natural way they know how, and that is through social media,” says Raseroka.
At least one of the following vehicles need to feature in the photos in order to qualify for the competition: the Foton, Golden Dragon, Jinbei and Kinglong minibus taxis.
“We will be looking for creativity, picture quality and composition in the photos, but the most important aspect is that learners should have fun, and that should show in the pictures.”
