About the role

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the day to day running of the organisation.  In this role you will support the Collections Portfolio Manager, working closely with him/her to ensure optimum operational efficiency and maintenance of required level of governance & compliance that the company is required to comply with.

Main purpose of this position

The purpose of the role is to maximise cash collection from minibus operators financed by Bridge Taxi Finance, prevent debt from ageing and ensuring the Active Client Management process is applied to your portfolio of clients.  You’ll engage our customers to negotiate payment, whilst maintaining customer relationships in support of the operations of the client. You’ll need to facilitate the resolution of a range of customer and industry related queries and help support the customer in operating optimally, thereby ensuring the ability of the customer to settle his obligations in terms of his credit agreement with Bridge Taxi Finance.

You are responsible to ensure that the company collections policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

Excellent communication skills and an effective telephone manner are a necessity as the role requires both verbal and written communication to our customers.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  1. Responsible for working a portfolio of customers through Active Client management and implementation of tactical campaigns in order to ensure client performance in line with the Bridge requirements
  2. Work to agreed quality standards and within agreed timescales
  3. Developing and maintaining your specialist collections, industry, business and system knowledge
  4. Balance debt collection with efficient customer service
  5. Ensure Bridge collections policies and procedures are adhered to.

Skills and compentencies

  1. Knowledge of debt collection techniques and be able to demonstrate excellent negotiation and communication skills
  2. Proficient in Excel & Outlook, as well as the internet, web functionality and social media.
  3. Ability to work to tight deadlines & targets
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  5. Must have a strong sense of accountability/target driven.
  6. Remain composed and professional when dealing with challenging customers
  7. Be able to multitask
  8. Good typing skills
  9. Ability to translate telephone calls into written text onto the system in the appropriate English
  10. Good problem-solving capability
  11. Ability to follow company processes
  12. Ability to diarise and follow up with clients in an articulate manner

Minimum Requirements: 

  1. Minimum of 1-years’ experience in Collections in a client contact centre environment
  2. Ability to communicate in more than one of the official languages of South Africa


  1. Formal training or qualifications in Collections processes
